American Bulldog Rescue has been functional since February 2008. In that year we have gone from advertising dogs in shelters and private rehomings to having our own foster homes and also renting kennel spaces in 3 different boarding kennels. I get on average 3 calls a day asking for help from people who need to rehome their dogs. The ages range from 14 weeks to 9 years. Just recently I have been asked to help with 3 litters of puppies and have had several dogs under 10 months to find homes for. Most of the owners give the same story, that they can't manage them because they are so strong and they need too much exercise. Ideally people will find out all about their chosen breed before they decide to buy a puppy, but it is the breeders responsibility to make sure that they have done so and to point out just what owning one of these dogs entails and to make sure that these people are suitable to have one of their puppies..
Before you fill in an application to adopt one of our dogs please make sure you have done your homework and know just what taking on an American Bulldog entails.
We try to spay and neuter dogs before they leave our care, but to do that we need funds to cover the costs, all donations are appreciated. Our kennel bills are also high and we are going to set up a Sponsor a Kennel scheme, if you think this is something you could be interested in please do contact me. At the moment we are paying £30 per day kennel fees.
